START THE YEAR OFF RIGHT!
Over the course of this year you will hear from me a lot. However, in order to do that, I need preliminary information from you about your student. Please take some time this week to complete the online survey (link below) about how I can assist your student this year. There is also space provided for you to express any questions, concerns or comments.

**Each parent / guardian will receive an introductory phone call from me within the first weeks of school. In addition, I would love to personally introduce myself to each parent /guardian at least on or before Back to School Night on September 25th at 6pm (save the date). It is my goal to establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with each student’s relative. If you would like to opt out of such messages, please press 2 at the end of the call.

How can parents help?
We welcome visitors to our classroom, and we always appreciate parents volunteering to help out. As a parent it is important to remain very active in your student’s education even throughout high school. It matters! So here are some suggestions for how you can help your student be successful from home:

Let your child know that homework is important.
Agree with your child upon a set work-space and time for homework.
Ask to see homework, and talk to your child about what he/she learned each day.
Check to make sure your child has finished all assignments in person and on our online gradebook.
Know what to do or whom to contact if your child does not understand an assignment. Contact Mrs. Forsythe when you see an issue.
Be careful of the line between helping your child and doing the work for your child.
Talk to the teacher about a problem your child is experiencing with homework.
Praise your child for good effort.
